it's a redraw of that infamous picture i did two years ago... [link]

i did that one in oct-nov 2010. this was my first full illustration of my characters, even though i did quickly-colored sketches before. that picture represented a beginning for me. the beginning of their story. i didn't want a background. i didn't want much of their bodies. i just wanted their faces, because i wanted their personality to show through their facial expressions.

that's why i was so excited and happy when i did that picture. so i really liked it. i even made it my desktop background and i rarely do that with my drawings!!

so it's ironic that that was a picture that... many people insulted!! i think what happened at first is that some random person gave me a nitpicky critique that didn't say anything positive. and i pointed out that it's not good to give someone a nitpicky critique and say nothing positive, it gives the artist a bad feeling. and that person got upset with me and then a few more people got upset with me, and then somehow, someone posted that pic on a blog where people make fun of "bad artwork" (i never actually looked at that blog... someone else told me lol), then a ton of trolls came over to me and posted rude comments on that pic, my profile page, and some other drawings i had done. this troll attack with that blog posting came a few days before Christmas. ;___;

there was a sliding scale of how much people were "trolling." the random strangers who commented me ranged from completely rude and stupid, to people who sort of tried to give me a proper critique but they were just lecturing me and acting superior. when i pointed that out to them, they got upset even though it's their own fault that they were arrogant. also something else that annoyed me was that people were so repetitive. everyone said the same thing over and over. it didn't cross anyone's mind that they should look at what others have said before they comment. anyway, reputation spread that "supersachiko hates critiques." "don't critique supersachiko, she'll just lash out at you." and people would come to me and say "i know you hate critiques and you're just going to get mad at me but i will critique you anyway..." (no, i'm not mad at you for critiquing me, i'm mad at you for making a false assumption!)

although. a few people gave me critiques that WEREN'T arrogant, though. and several people sent me supportive comments and notes. so it wasn't all bad since this happened around Christmas, the kindness that some people showed me was a great present!! ^___^ someone even redrew my pic, not out of an attitude of "i can do it better" but "i want to reinterpret this in my own style." that too was a great Christmas present!!

so if you want to see what happened, you can go to the original pic and read the comments, but... i haven't read them ever since then. because if i do, i'll start analyzing what i said and things like "i should have said _____ instead." so i myself am not looking at those comments again.

another incident: there were some trolls here and there who came to me over the next several weeks, then in february, tajii-chan posted a journal about art teachers who don't allow anime, and in the comment section of that journal i got into an argument with a whole bunch of people about anime vs. realism. but, i didn't purposely seek to argue with a whole bunch of people. i argued with a couple of people i think, and many others came TO ME: what kept happening was that i'd say something to one person and four or five people would respond. that was extremely frustrating, i wasn't going around picking fights- people picked them with me. and, some people were saying bad things about me in da forums, plus, many people said rude things to me on my artwork and on my profile. some of the same trolls from last time showed up!! i ended up writing a long journal about the whole thing: [link]

so all of this troll stuff happened in winter 2010-11. before then, i rarely had trolls XD after that, i still don't have that many trolls come to me but occasionally there's one. -___-U i had some friends on da in winter 2010-11 but i think it was more of the second half of 2011 that i began making more and more friends!! ^____^ so i have many more friends than trolls, it's not like i am constantly barraged by trolls XDDD

last year around this time, i didn't want to redraw this picture. i wanted to let it stand as it is. but this year, i changed my mind and decided that i wanted a better version. so here it is... it is fun but tricky at the same time to draw those two perspectives of the head. so i hope i did it well lol. and also, yay i was able to get the hair colors correct this time! last time i had trouble, because again, it was pretty much the first time i had ever drawn these characters in color. also i have to say that the colors here may be slightly too bright, not sure. i edited on the comp because the scanner made it a little bit more dull.

anyway, these are my sugoi desu oc's 8DDD *shot* superawesomepants (jessica) and captain cookie (tyrone). there for a manga i want to do in the future. it's a comedy manga, that's why they have funny names. XD as you probably know... they're superheroes!! ^___^

like i said last time... "extraordinary" refers to their superpowers and the fact that jess has a HUGE crush on ty and will do anything to be with him, she's desperate lol

sidenote: jessica/SAP's eye color changed because... when i first created her, i kinda wanted to do yellow-orange eyes but wasn't sure. so i made them blue-green. then later i changed them to purple. THEN i finally went with my first instinct from before, the yellow-orange color.

sidenote 2: i had to name the 2010 pic "SAP and CC" because i didn't have enough characters to write out the full title. thanks deviantart for allowing us more characters!

embarrassing sidenote 3: the line in the middle... don't look at it too much OTL it's slanted 8D and the letters aren't all on the same level... eheheheh
